What is a Stair Nosing? A suitable step edge can help reduce accidents such as slips and trips as well as helping to provide an accessible environment to all building users. Typically made with an aluminium carrier that is fixed to the step edge they can be used in conjunction with carpet, vinyl flooring, ceramic tiles or some are suitable to be used without a floor covering straight onto a concrete or metal step such as an outside exterior step or fire escape stair case. Used to define the edges of steps in line with guidelines in Approved Document M (ADM) of The Building Regulations 2010 and BS8300:2009+A1:2010 they will also protect the edges of floorcoverings from becoming worn or damaged prolonging the life of flooring.
